What is rights management?
Rights management is the practice of keeping an accurate record of who owns what in a catalogue. Zen Music maintains a registry of every release: the owners, the songwriter and master splits, and where each track is licensed.
What does the registry hold?
The registry holds ownership percentages, songwriter and performer splits, sample clearances and every license a track is under, all tied to the release. A rights holder can see the full picture of any song in the catalogue at a glance.
What are neighbouring rights?
Performers and producers are owed neighbouring-rights royalties when recordings are broadcast or played in public. Zen Music registers and claims those royalties on the rights holder's behalf.
What happens when something goes wrong?
Wrong metadata, a bad claim or an unauthorised upload can threaten a catalogue. Zen Music handles disputes, corrections and takedowns so rights stay intact. Most disputes are opened within a day or two of being flagged, and the rights holder is kept updated until they are resolved.
